Swiss skier Franjo von Allmen claimed the men’s Olympic downhill title, securing the first gold medal of the Milan Cortina Winter Games.

Racing under clear skies in Bormio, von Allmen mastered the demanding course to post a winning time of 1 minute 51.61 seconds.

Italy’s Giovanni Franzoni mounted a strong challenge but settled for silver, while his teammate Dominik Paris delivered a quick run to take bronze. Paris’ finish pushed Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt off the podium.
