Syria and Uzbekistan have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening economic cooperation and expanding bilateral trade ties.

The agreement was signed in Tashkent by the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan. The MoU provides for the organisation of joint business forums, support for companies participating in trade exhibitions, and enhanced cooperation in commercial arbitration. It also includes measures to promote small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Officials from both sides described the deal as an important step toward deepening economic partnership and creating new opportunities for trade and investment between the two countries.

Earlier in the day, Alaa al-Ali, head of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, and Syria’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Mohammad Yaseen Hourieh met with Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov to discuss expanding bilateral economic collaboration.

The agreement signals growing engagement between Damascus and Tashkent as both countries seek to broaden regional and international trade links.
