Several of the Games’ biggest names stepped into the spotlight, including Mikaela Shiffrin, Johannes Hosflot Klæbo, Xu Mengtao and Arianna Fontana, as medals were decided in multiple disciplines.
Shiffrin claims long-awaited slalom gold
American alpine skiing legend Mikaela Shiffrin secured her first gold of the Games in the women’s slalom, finishing well ahead of the field with a commanding two-run performance. Switzerland’s Camille Rast took silver, while Sweden’s Anna Swenn Larsson earned bronze.
Norway and Sweden dominate cross-country sprints
Johannes Hosflot Klæbo added another chapter to his Olympic legacy by anchoring Norway to victory in the men’s team sprint free, extending his record-breaking gold tally.
In the women’s event, Sweden’s Jonna Sundling and Maja Dahlqvist claimed gold, upgrading their silver from the previous Games.
Xu Mengtao makes aerials history
China’s Xu Mengtao successfully defended her Olympic title in freestyle skiing aerials, becoming the first athlete to win two Olympic gold medals in the event. Teammate Shao Qi joined her on the podium alongside Australia’s Danielle Scott.
Snowboard titles for Su Yiming and Fukada Mari
China’s Su Yiming celebrated his birthday with gold in the men’s snowboard slopestyle, while Japan’s 19-year-old Fukada Mari delivered a breakout performance to win the women’s title. Defending champion Zoi Sadowski-Synnott finished just behind the winner.
France triumphs in biathlon relay
France claimed gold in the women’s 4×6 km biathlon relay after a strong anchor leg from Julia Simon, who secured her third gold medal of the Games. Sweden and Norway completed the podium.
Dubois wins thrilling short track sprint
Canada’s Steven Dubois captured gold in the men’s 500m short track speed skating final, edging Dutch skaters Melle and Jens van ’t Wout in a tight finish.
In the women’s 3000m relay, the Republic of Korea reclaimed Olympic gold, holding off Italy and Canada in a dramatic race. Italian star Arianna Fontana earned her 14th Olympic medal, becoming the most decorated Italian Olympian.
