Formula 1 fans are gearing up for the return of Netflix’s hit docuseries “Drive to Survive” after the sport’s official Instagram account revealed the episode titles for season eight.
The highly anticipated new season is set to launch globally on the streaming platform this Friday, February 27. The official post ends weeks of anticipation, and while the eight episode titles are now confirmed, speculation is already mounting over the exact events each instalment will cover.
Rookies and Red Bull drama
The series will kick off with an episode titled “New Kids on the Track.” Fans expect this opener to focus on the six rookies who made their mark on the grid during the 2025 season.
Drama off the circuit is expected to take centre stage in episode four, named “A Bull With No Horns.” This instalment is heavily rumoured to document the seismic departure of team principal Christian Horner from Red Bull. Horner’s exit marked the end of a 20-year run in charge of the Milton Keynes-based outfit.
McLaren’s highs and lows
Episode six, titled “The Duel,” will likely chronicle the fierce intra-team title fight between McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. The intense battle between the papaya teammates was a defining narrative of the year and ended with Norris securing his maiden Drivers’ Championship.
The misery of the Las Vegas Grand Prix also gets a dedicated slot. Episode seven, “What Happens in Vegas,” is slated to dive into the shocking double disqualification that briefly derailed McLaren’s momentum on the famous Strip.
Verstappen’s chase
The season wraps up with episode eight, aptly named “Call Me Chucky.” This finale will reportedly follow Max Verstappen‘s relentless championship chase and his exchange with McLaren CEO Zak Brown. The episode title stems from a viral off-track exchange where Brown likened the Dutch driver to a relentless villain, stating, “He’s like that guy in a horror movie, that right as you think he’s not coming back, he’s back!”
Verstappen later brushed off the comparison and joked to the media: “He can call me Chucky! I don’t know. I saw it as well. I thought it was quite funny. From my side, I just focus on myself.”
