Deepak Chopra Denies Wrongdoing after Epstein File Release Sparks Scrutiny

Wellness author Deepak Chopra has denied any criminal wrongdoing after newly released U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) documents linked to Jeffrey Epstein reignited scrutiny over past email exchanges attributed to the pair.
The DOJ said it published roughly 3.5 mln pages of material under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, describing the move as part of a broader transparency effort. The disclosure has triggered renewed reporting and online analysis, with public figures mentioned in the documents facing heightened attention.
Some of the most widely circulated material involves emails allegedly exchanged between Epstein and Chopra in 2016 and 2017. The tone of the messages has drawn criticism online, with commentators questioning the appropriateness of the exchanges and their contrast with Chopra’s public image as a spiritual leader.
Chopra has rejected any suggestion of criminal or exploitative involvement. In public comments, he acknowledged what he described as poor judgment in tone but stressed that he condemns abuse and does not condone Epstein’s crimes. There is no indication in the DOJ release that Chopra has been charged in connection with the case.
Jeffrey Epstein was arrested in 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges and died in custody in August that year. His associate Ghislaine Maxwell was later convicted of sex trafficking-related offences and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The resurfaced material has sparked widespread debate online, largely centred on Chopra’s judgment and past associations rather than allegations of criminal conduct. Observers say the fallout highlights how new disclosures tied to Epstein continue to reshape public perceptions of figures linked to his network, even in the absence of formal charges.
The DOJ has framed the document release as a statutory transparency measure, meaning further scrutiny will likely depend on how journalists and researchers interpret the trove in the months ahead.
