The second season of the hit ice hockey drama Heated Rivalry has been officially confirmed, with its return scheduled for April 2027.

Series creator Jacob Tierney announced the news during an appearance on CBS Mornings on Thursday, revealing that the writers’ room is already working on the new instalment and that filming is expected to begin in August.

«There will be more ‘Heated Rivalry’ on your TVs, like, truly, as soon as humanly possible,» Tierney told host Gayle King.

The Canadian series, adapted from the popular novels by Rachel Reid, gained widespread attention online for combining intense professional hockey action with an emotional non-conventional romance storyline.

The drama centres on rival players Shane Hollander of the fictional Montreal Metros, played by Hudson Williams, and Ilya Rozanov of the Boston Raiders, portrayed by Connor Storrie. Their fierce competition on the ice and unexpected attraction off it has become the core dynamic driving the series’ popularity.

Tierney said the team remains focused on delivering a faithful adaptation of the source material, a factor many fans say contributes to the show’s emotional authenticity. Since its 2025 debut, the series has paired high-energy hockey scenes with bold romantic storytelling, attracting viewers well beyond traditional sports audiences and even inspiring some athletes to publicly come out.

Season two will stream on Crave in Canada and air on HBO Max in the United States.
