On February 26 the London Stock Exchange hosted a Market Open Ceremony as part of the UK and Central Asian Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, bringing together senior officials from the United Kingdom and the five Central Asian republics at the heart of London’s financial centre.

The ceremony was one element of a wider programme of meetings in London, highlighting the shared commitment to deepening economic cooperation, fostering long-term sustainable growth, and enhancing ties between the UK and Central Asia. Ministers emphasised the importance of open and well-functioning capital markets in promoting investment, resilience, and international partnerships.

The event was led by Dame Julia Hoggett, CEO of the London Stock Exchange, and Lucy Rigby MP, Economic Secretary to the Treasury. Foreign Ministers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan were welcomed to the ceremony, underlining London’s role as a global hub for governments, investors, and businesses.

As Central Asian economies continue to pursue reform and expand their engagement with international capital markets, the London Stock Exchange provides a platform to access global investors, maintain high governance standards, and support long-term capital formation.
