President Shavkat Mirziyoyev condemned drone attacks on Azerbaijani territory and expressed wishes for the swift recovery of those injured.

On March 5, Mirziyoyev held a phone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to discuss the sharp escalation of tensions in the Middle East. Both leaders noted that such attacks during the holy month of Ramadan violate universal human values and international norms.

Mirziyoyev thanked Azerbaijan for assisting in the safe evacuation of Uzbek citizens from Iran. In response, Aliyev expressed gratitude for Uzbekistan’s support and the friendly dialogue during a difficult period.

The incident in Nakhchivan occurred on March 5, when drones reportedly launched from Iranian territory struck the region. One drone crashed at the airport and another was found near a school, with two people reported injured in Baku.
