Donald Trump has demanded the «unconditional surrender» of Iran, escalating rhetoric a week after the United States and Israel launched military operations against the country.

In a social media post, Trump said there would be no agreement with Iran unless it fully surrendered, adding that after new leadership is chosen, the United States and its allies would help rebuild Iran’s economy.

His remarks came just hours after Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran’s president, said that several countries had begun mediation efforts aimed at ending the conflict, though he did not specify which nations were involved.

Meanwhile, fighting across the region continued to intensify. Israeli forces carried out new airstrikes in Beirut after ordering evacuations in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, while also launching additional attacks on targets in Tehran.

The escalating conflict has caused significant casualties and raised fears of a wider regional war. According to officials, more than a dozen countries across the Middle East have reported drone or missile incidents since the fighting began.

At the same time, the United Nations called for an investigation into reports that a strike on a school in southern Iran may have killed dozens of children during the first day of the conflict.

US authorities said military investigators are still reviewing the incident and have not reached a final conclusion about responsibility.

The conflict has also prompted evacuation efforts across the region, with the U.S. Department of State assisting thousands of Americans seeking to leave the Middle East as security conditions deteriorate.
