All eight episodes of One Piece Season 2 are now available to stream on Netflix, with the new instalment titled One Piece: Into the Grand Line.

The next chapter follows the Straw Hat crew as they continue their search for the legendary treasure known as the One Piece. With Gold Roger’s treasure still unclaimed, Luffy and his companions set sail towards the dangerous Grand Line for their next adventure.

The returning cast includes Inaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu as Zoro, Taz Skylar as Sanji and Jacob Romero as Usopp. Michael Dorman also returns as Gold Roger.

New storylines in the Grand Line

According to the official synopsis, Season 2 introduces tougher enemies and more dangerous missions as the Straw Hats travel through the Grand Line, a legendary stretch of ocean filled with unpredictable islands and powerful adversaries.

Co-showrunner and executive producer Matt Owens confirmed that Dr Kureha will play a key role in the new season. The story also introduces fan-favourite character Tony Tony Chopper and takes viewers to several locations previously teased in Season 1.

Series creator Eiichiro Oda said the storyline covers locations including Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whisky Peak, Little Island and Drum Island.

New characters join the cast

Season 2 also expands the cast with several new actors. Mikaela Hoover voices Tony Tony Chopper, while Rigo Sanchez appears as Dragon and Charithra Chandran plays Miss Wednesday.

Other new additions include Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefertari Cobra, Katey Sagal as Dr Kureha and Joe Manganiello as Mr 0.

During filming in South Africa, Oda visited the set and met both returning and new cast members. He later said seeing the actors in person convinced him they were «the perfect choice» for the characters.

Netflix has already confirmed that the series will return for a third season following the release of Season 2.
