Top Iranian Security Official Threatens Trump Amid Escalating Tensions

A senior Iranian security official has issued a direct warning to U.S. President Donald Trump, further escalating tensions as conflict between Iran and the United States and its allies intensifies.
Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, warned the U.S. leader in a statement on Tuesday:
«The Ashura-loving nation of Iran does not fear your paper threats. Even those greater than you could not eliminate the Iranian nation. Watch out for yourself — lest you be eliminated.»
Larijani’s remarks came after Trump warned Iran against blocking the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global energy route through which a significant share of the world’s oil shipments passes. Writing on Truth Social, Trump said that if Iran disrupted oil flows in the strait, the United States would respond «twenty times harder than they have been hit thus far.»
The sharp exchange comes amid heightened regional tensions following an American-Israeli military campaign against Iran. Iran has recently appointed a new supreme leader after Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was reportedly killed in an air strike.
The ongoing conflict has already pushed global oil prices higher, though markets showed signs of easing after Trump suggested earlier this week that a potential end to hostilities could be possible.
