The United States on Wednesday carried out a deportation flight to Uzbekistan, returning 72 Uzbek nationals who were found to be in the country without legal status.

The flight forms part of ongoing enforcement measures aimed at strengthening U.S. border security. Authorities said that since Donald Trump took office, more than 1,000 Uzbek nationals have been deported as part of efforts to curb illegal immigration.

U.S. officials warned that individuals who enter the country unlawfully may face detention and removal.

Washington also expressed appreciation to the government of Uzbekistan for its cooperation in facilitating the deportation operations.
