Lisa Rinna drew attention with a striking gown made from over 11 lbs of human hair at the Elton John Oscars Afterparty. The 62-year-old former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star collaborated with designer Christian Cowan and TRESemmé to create the curve-hugging strapless dress.
The gown, featuring a sweetheart neckline, was constructed by wrapping strands of ethically sourced hair around fabric and boning. At a glance it resembled black fabric strips, but the loose tresses at the hem confirmed the hair detail. Cowan shared behind-the-scenes clips on social media days before the event, calling it «A-List hair, reimagined in the most iconic…legendary…way.»
Hair for the dress was sourced from Aliperal, Bellami, and The Hair Shop, with each weft chosen to complement Rinna’s skin tone. TRESemmé’s A-Lisa collection prepped the hair before it was sewn into the gown. Cowan told People,
«I wanted to celebrate the beauty of Lisa, she’s a tour de force…she’s so known for her iconic hair, so it felt fun to play with that.»
Rinna said of the look, «I am not opposed to doing wacky things with Christian Cowan. I love to take a risk. I love to do fun things. With my hair, my iconic hair that I’ve had for 25 plus years, it just felt right.»
Lisa Rinna has been in the public eye recently for her appearance on The Traitors with Rob Rausch and the release of her book You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It, where she reflected on her Hollywood experiences.
Her book also addresses misconceptions about her being a bully, insisting that the real difficult behaviour came from others on set.
