Manchester City defender Abduqodir Khusanov has been included in a list of the world’s most underrated footballers, according to The Athletic.

The Uzbek international appears alongside several high-profile names, including Federico Valverde, Bernardo Silva, Joao Neves, Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Victor Osimhen. The publication argues that all of them receive less recognition than their performances deserve.

The Athletic notes that many fans still recall Khusanov’s difficult debut against Chelsea last season, when he made a costly mistake and looked uncertain. However, the 22-year-old defender quickly managed to turn things around.

«This season, he has shown clear improvement. His key strengths are pace, strong game reading, and aggressive ball-winning,» the article states.

Khusanov’s progress has not gone unnoticed at club level either. He was recently named Manchester City’s Player of the Month for January — his first individual award at the Etihad.
