Tom Holland is back as Spider-Man in an early glimpse of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, set to arrive in cinemas on July 31 from Sony Pictures. The actor confirmed on Instagram that the film’s full trailer will be released on Wednesday, with brief teaser clips rolling out across fan social media accounts worldwide in the lead-up.
The initial footage shows Spider-Man swinging between buildings as he rescues someone, accompanied by a voice saying «rebirth». The darker, slow-motion tone marks a stylistic shift from Holland’s earlier outings, drawing comparisons to the work of Zack Snyder.
The film also represents a change behind the camera, with Destin Daniel Cretton taking over directing duties from Jon Watts. It is Holland’s first solo Spider-Man film since the global hit Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, which earned more than $1.9 bn worldwide and brought together previous Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
Brand New Day introduces a fresh chapter for the character, with a new suit and a shift in Spider-Man’s circumstances, marking Tom Holland’s fourth standalone film and seventh appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
After filming wrapped in December, Cretton shared a message on social media praising Holland’s contribution, thanking him for his «kind, generous leadership on and off screen» as well as his «relentless work ethic» and «fearless performances».
The director also expressed gratitude to the cast and crew, describing the project as the most significant and rewarding film of his career, and said he is eager for audiences to experience the finished result on the big screen.
