BTS leader RM has sustained an ankle injury during rehearsals just days before the group’s highly anticipated full-group comeback concert in central Seoul, his agency said.

The rapper was injured on Thursday and taken to hospital for evaluation and treatment, according to BigHit Music. Medical staff diagnosed ligament damage and inflammation, advising him to wear a leg cast and avoid movement for at least two weeks.

The incident comes shortly before BTS is set to perform a free outdoor concert at 8 p.m. on Saturday at Gwanghwamun Square, celebrating the release of their fifth studio album, «Arirang.»

Despite the injury, RM has expressed his determination to take part in the event. However, the agency said his participation will be adjusted in line with medical advice.

«With the medical team’s opinion as our top priority and to prevent any worsening of the injury, we have made the difficult decision, together with the artist, to limit RM’s movement during the show,» the statement said, noting that some choreography and stage elements will be scaled back.

Speaking during a Weverse live broadcast later that day, RM said he had been preparing intensively for the performance but had overexerted himself during rehearsals.

«I won’t be able to join the choreography because it’s difficult for me right now. But I’ll still be on stage,» he said.

He added that the injury is not serious and that he will focus on recovery to be in the best possible condition for the concert.
