Max Verstappen Claims Dominant NLS2 Victory at Nurburgring

Max Verstappen has secured a commanding victory in the second round of the Nurburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS2) to continue his impressive run in GT3 machinery.
Sharing the #3 Mercedes-AMG GT3 with teammates Daniel Juncadella and Jules Gounon, the four-time Formula 1 world champion conquered the four-hour endurance race at the infamous Nordschleife to cross the finish line over a minute ahead of the competition.
The race day started perfectly for the Verstappen Racing team when the Dutchman delivered a blistering lap time of 7:51.751 to put the Mercedes on pole position, finishing nearly two seconds clear of the rest of the 132-car field.
As the race got underway, Verstappen retained the lead through the opening corners. However, he soon found himself locked in a fierce battle with GT3 veteran Christopher Haase in the #16 Audi.
Haase managed to overtake Verstappen at the end of the first lap to set up a spectacular and tense fight. The pair navigated heavy traffic and code 60 zones on the narrow German circuit, with Verstappen patiently hunting down the Audi through the twists and turns of the Green Hell.
Verstappen’s persistence paid off just before the end of his stint when he successfully reclaimed the lead right as both drivers entered the pit lane at the one-hour mark.

Daniel Juncadella took over driving duties but initially rejoined the track behind the Audi following a slightly slower pit stop. The Spaniard quickly fought his way back to the front and put in a stellar performance to build a 20-second advantage which he later stretched to nearly a minute.
Jules Gounon then took the wheel for the third stint, surviving early pressure to maintain the team’s commanding lead.
Max Verstappen returned to the cockpit for the final run to comfortably bring the car home and secure his second NLS victory following his debut win in the series last year. The triumphant weekend serves as vital preparation for the 24 Hours of Nurburgring in May where Verstappen hopes to conquer one of endurance racing’s ultimate challenges.
