Brazilian-Italian footballer Jorginho has said his 11-year-old daughter was left distressed after an encounter involving pop singer Chappell Roan at a hotel in Sao Paulo.

In a post on Instagram, the 34-year-old midfielder said his daughter had been excited after learning the singer was staying at the same hotel during her visit for Lollapalooza Brazil. He wrote that she had even made a sign in anticipation of seeing an artist she admired.

According to Jorginho, his ex-wife Catherine Harding and their daughter Ava Law were having breakfast when Roan passed by their table. He said the child briefly walked past to confirm the singer’s identity, smiled and returned without speaking or asking for anything.

Jorginho claimed the situation escalated when a security guard approached their table and spoke «in an extremely aggressive manner», accusing the child of disrespecting or harassing the singer.

He alleged the guard threatened to file a complaint with the hotel, leaving his daughter in tears.

«I don’t know at what point simply walking past a table and looking to see if someone is there can be considered harassment,» he said.

Roan, who has previously spoken about setting boundaries with fans and the media, has faced criticism in the past over her approach to public interactions.
