A major four-season resort development in Uzbekistan’s Chimgan is moving into its final stage, as French engineering group MND advances construction of one of Central Asia’s first year-round mountain destinations.
Two years after the project began, most approvals have been secured and large-scale logistics operations are nearing completion. Nearly 200 out of around 300 planned equipment deliveries have already been dispatched from France, with the remaining shipments expected in the coming months.
Despite harsh winter conditions, construction has continued steadily, with several key infrastructure components now taking shape. These include a 10-passenger gondola lift scheduled to open in autumn, two chairlifts nearing completion, and multiple leisure attractions such as zip lines, a rail coaster and an adventure tower.
Work is also progressing on snowmaking systems and avalanche safety infrastructure, alongside the development of essential facilities like reservoirs and slope equipment.
Around 100 workers are currently involved on site, with staffing expected to increase as the project approaches its peak construction phase.
The development brings together all of MND’s core business areas, covering ropeways, snow systems, safety and leisure infrastructure. The company says the project highlights its integrated approach, from design and manufacturing in France to installation in Uzbekistan.
The resort is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2026, with further expansion planned, including a high-altitude aerial tramway connecting the valley to elevations above 3,300 metres by 2027.
The Chimgan project is seen as a key step in boosting Uzbekistan’s tourism sector and positioning the country as a new destination for sustainable mountain travel in Central Asia.
