«Spider-Man: Brand New Day» has set a new benchmark after its trailer surpassed one bn views within four days of release, becoming the first film trailer to reach the milestone.
The trailer’s initial performance was equally historic, generating 718.6 mln views in its first 24 hours, the highest debut for any film or video game. Within eight hours, it had already amassed 373 mln views worldwide.
The new Spider-Man instalment has overtaken previous record holders, including «Deadpool and Wolverine», which reached 365 mln views in 24 hours after its Super Bowl debut in 2024. It also exceeded the launch figures of the «Grand Theft Auto VI» trailer, which had held the overall record with 475 mln views in a day.
Sony’s earlier release, «Spider-Man: No Way Home», previously set a high bar with 355.5 mln views in its first 24 hours before going on to earn $1.9 bn globally.
The film sees Tom Holland return as Spider-Man for the first time since «No Way Home», where Peter Parker’s identity was erased from public memory.
«Brand New Day» is set for release on July 31 and features a cast including Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, with production led by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Rachel O’Connor.
