The Istanbul Prosecutor General’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for actress Hande Ercel, who starred in the series Sen Cal Kapimi («Love Is in the Air»), according to Turkish outlet Sabah.

The warrant was issued as part of an ongoing anti-drug investigation in Turkey that has been underway for several months. Reports indicate that 14 people have already been detained, including former Besiktas football club president Fikret Orman and former Galatasaray head Burak Elmas, among others.

They are suspected of drug production and trafficking, as well as the purchase and use of illegal substances.

Ercel stated on her Instagram page that she learned about the arrest warrant through the media. She added that she has been abroad for the past month but is ready to return to give testimony.

«I am a person who loves my country, trusts the state and the Turkish justice system. I believe the situation will be clarified in the near future,» the actress commented.

Hande Ercel was born on November 24, 1993, in Bandırma. In 2012, she placed second at the international beauty contest Miss Civilization of the World in Baku. Her acting debut took place in 2013 with a minor role in the series Tatar Ramazan.

She gained worldwide recognition for her role as Eda Yildiz in Sen Cal Kapımı, which aired on Turkish television from July 2020 to September 2021.

The plot of the series centers on the relationship between florist Eda Yildiz and architect Serkan Bolat. Eda dreams of becoming a landscape architect and going to Italy for an internship, but at the last moment she loses a scholarship funded by Serkan’s company. Believing he ruined her life, she decides to take revenge on him.
