The Chimgan mountain resort in Uzbekistan has entered the final stage of its transformation into a four-season destination. Two years after the project began under French industrial group MND, construction is now at a decisive point, aiming to establish one of Central Asia’s first year-round mountain leisure resorts.

Major Construction Milestones Reached

All necessary studies and permits have been approved, and over two-thirds of the equipment has been produced and shipped to Uzbekistan. Of around 300 planned logistics convoys, nearly 200 have left MND’s Savoy factories, with deliveries continuing into spring. Construction has continued throughout winter despite challenging conditions.

Significant infrastructure milestones have been reached. The ORIZON™ 10-passenger detachable gondola has its line equipment and cable on site, with stations and cabins scheduled to leave the workshops in the coming weeks, and the system is set to open in autumn.

Two chairlifts are under assembly, with pylons and stations being installed and completion expected by summer. Fourteen O’BellX avalanche control systems are being fitted, while a scenic alpine coaster, two zip lines, an adventure tower and tubing area are also in progress. The automated snow-making network, featuring 80 poles and 14 fan guns, will be finalised this summer, with hillside reservoir sealing scheduled for spring.

Teamwork and Expertise Driving the Project

Around 100 staff are currently working on site, set to rise to nearly 200 as operations ramp up. The project integrates all four MND divisions — Ropeways, Snow, Safety and Leisure — alongside subsidiary MBS, responsible for signage and piste safety equipment. This model provides a single partner for design, production and installation of complete and sustainable resort infrastructure.

By the end of 2026, all resort equipment will be operational. Construction of the C2 cable car connecting the valley to higher-altitude areas will begin this year and is due to open in 2027, reaching 3,300 metres.

Key project components include:

  • Cable Transport: 10-passenger gondola with base and summit stations.
  • High-Altitude Cable Car: 80-passenger line to 3,309 metres with station buildings.
  • Additional Lifts: Two fixed 4-seat chairlifts.
  • Beginner Areas: Six conveyor belts for skiers and pedestrians, with covered galleries.
  • Snow Making: Automated system covering part of the ski domain.
  • Leisure Facilities: Alpine coaster, two giant zip lines, adventure tower, tubing area, avalanche control systems, dynamic signage, piste lighting and safety equipment.
