Sony said it will raise prices across its PlayStation 5 range for the second time in less than a year, citing pressure from the global economy and rising component costs.

In the U.S., the PS5 disc edition will increase by $100 to $649.99, while the digital version will rise to $599.99. The PS5 Pro will see a $150 hike to $899.99. The new prices take effect on April 2.

The company said the move followed a review of market conditions, noting that higher prices would help sustain investment in gaming experiences.

Sony is facing a sharp rise in memory costs, a key component in the console, as supply tightens and demand from AI data centres grows.

Prices will also increase in Japan, the UK and Europe, with UK models rising by £90. Analysts say the hikes were expected and warn that rivals Microsoft and Nintendo could follow if cost pressures persist.
