Production on the upcoming Tomb Raider series has been temporarily suspended after lead actress Sophie Turner sustained an injury, according to reports confirmed by Prime Video.
Turner, who is set to portray Lara Croft, is recovering from what has been described as a minor issue. Filming has been paused as a precaution to allow her time to heal, with production expected to resume once she is fit to return.
Reports suggest the actress may have aggravated a pre-existing back condition, potentially delaying filming for several weeks or longer. However, Prime Video has not confirmed a specific timeline for the pause.
The series, which began shooting in January, does not yet have an official release date but is currently expected to premiere in 2027. It remains unclear whether the delay will affect that schedule.
The show is written and executive produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, best known for Fleabag, and features a large ensemble cast including Sigourney Weaver and Jason Isaacs.
The Tomb Raider franchise, which began as a video game in 1996, has been adapted multiple times for the screen. Lara Croft was previously portrayed by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander in earlier films.
Prime Video is hoping to build on the success of its recent video game adaptation Fallout, as it develops a new take on the iconic adventurer.
