Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly aiming to appoint Roberto De Zerbi as their new permanent head coach following Igor Tudor’s departure. Tudor left the club by mutual consent after just 44 days in charge, with CEO Vinai Venkatesham and sporting director Johan Lange tasked with finding a replacement.
The decision to part ways with Tudor had been settled after Tottenham’s 3-0 defeat by Nottingham Forest left them just one point above the relegation zone. Sources indicate the club delayed the announcement to allow Tudor to grieve his father’s recent death.
Roberto De Zerbi, recently departed from Marseille, has emerged as Tottenham’s primary target. According to multiple sources, initial discussions suggest the Italian is open to the role but may prefer to wait until the season concludes to ensure the club remains in the Premier League. Spurs had reportedly approached him before Tudor’s departure to gauge his interest.
Other Potential Appointments
Short-term options include Sean Dyche, available since his Forest exit in February, who has a track record of keeping clubs in the Premier League. However, Dyche is understood to want a minimum 18-month contract, which could complicate negotiations.
Supporters’ favourite Mauricio Pochettino is considered a long-term possibility, though his commitments with the USA national team ahead of the World Cup make an immediate return unlikely. Interim solutions could include former Spurs figures such as Ryan Mason, Harry Redknapp, Tim Sherwood, or current player Ben Davies. Former Monaco coach Adi Hutter, and ex-players Glenn Hoddle and Chris Hughton have also been mentioned as short-term candidates.
Tottenham now face a critical decision as they seek stability amid relegation concerns and the need to appoint a manager capable of steering the club through the remainder of the season.
