Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree outlining plans to introduce a «green ticket» system aimed at reducing environmental impact and promoting ecological awareness. Funds generated from the initiative will be directed towards tree planting projects.

The system will enable users to calculate the carbon footprint of journeys made by air, rail, metro and taxi. Travellers will then have the option to voluntarily offset their environmental impact by purchasing a «green ticket».

A similar approach will be applied to goods, with emissions measured across the entire lifecycle, from production to delivery. Consumers will also be able to compensate for the environmental impact of their purchases on a voluntary basis.

Carbon footprint calculations will be carried out automatically using a methodology to be approved by the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change. The initiative is designed to encourage more sustainable behaviour while supporting environmental restoration efforts.
