Annual inflation in Uzbekistan eased to 7.1% in March, down from 7.3% in February and significantly lower than 10.3% recorded a year earlier, according to the national statistics committee.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.6% in March, unchanged from February but 0.3 percentage points lower than in March 2025. Core inflation, which excludes fruit and vegetables, stood at 0.5% month-on-month and 7.8% year-on-year, less than half the level seen a year ago.

In the first quarter of 2026, overall prices increased by 1.9%.

Food prices rose by 1.2% in March, accelerating from 0.9% in February, although annual food inflation slowed to 5.6% from 7.6% a year earlier. Non-food goods increased by 0.3% month-on-month and 5.3% year-on-year, also down from 7.4% in March 2025.

Fuel prices declined by 0.9% over the month, with AI-92 and AI-95 petrol prices falling by 0.9% and 1.3%, respectively, while high-octane fuels dropped by 0.5%. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices decreased by 3.2%, while methane remained stable but was still around 30% higher compared to last year.

The latest data suggests inflationary pressures in Uzbekistan continue to ease, with annual price growth nearly halving over the past year.
