Uzbekistan to Offer 500 University Scholarships to Foreign Students Annually

Uzbekistan has announced a major initiative to attract global academic talent by launching the New Uzbekistan Scholarship. Under this programme the state will award up to 500 university grants every year to gifted foreign citizens.
These students will be able to study at public higher education institutions across the republic. The financial backing for these international scholarships will be drawn directly from any unallocated domestic grant quotas for bachelor’s degree courses during that specific academic year.
To accommodate the anticipated influx of international scholars the government is simplifying the application process. Starting in the 2026/2027 academic year foreign candidates will apply directly through a newly established Study in Uzbekistan online platform.
Furthermore students who complete their initial degree entirely in a foreign language will be exempt from providing a language proficiency certificate when applying for postgraduate studies.
These changes are part of a wider drive to boost the scientific and educational potential of the country. To oversee this global integration the government is establishing the Centre for Higher Education Development and Global Cooperation.
Uzbekistan is also heavily investing in future technologies by creating the Centre for Digital Education and Artificial Intelligence Development alongside a dedicated office to support innovative youth initiatives.
