Formula 1 could be heading for its most demanding schedule in history as intense rumours swirl about a monumental 25-race calendar for the 2027 season.

The speculation surrounding the expanded schedule gained significant traction following recent comments from Alpine driver Pierre Gasly. Speaking to the French television broadcaster Canal+ the driver seemingly let slip the future roadmap of the sport. Gasly stated that the paddock will probably have a 25-race season to navigate in the near future.

The proposed 25 traditional Grand Prix events might just be the tip of the iceberg for the sweeping 2027 shake-up. Alongside adding more destinations to the calendar there are reportedly concrete plans to dramatically increase the number of sprint formats. The current agenda allegedly includes a proposal to host up to 12 sprint weekends across the lengthy season.

Expanding the schedule to 25 races would require a significant overhaul of the regulations as the current Concorde Agreement officially caps the maximum number of events at 24.

The paddock has frequently warned about staff burnout, complex travel logistics and the intense physical toll that such a relentless mega calendar would inevitably demand from everyone involved in the travelling circus.
