Uzbekistan Airports Handle 3.9 Mln Passengers in Q1 2026

Uzbekistan’s airports experienced a highly active start to 2026 by handling 30,800 flights between January and March.
According to the latest statistical release from Uzbekistan Airports, this marks a 10% increase compared to the exact same period last year.
The vast majority of this air traffic was driven by overseas connectivity. International routes accounted for more than 22,800 flights while domestic journeys within the republic made up the remaining 7,900 departures and arrivals.
By the beginning of April, the nation’s aviation hubs had processed an impressive 3.9 mln travellers. International flyers comprised 3.3 mln of this overall figure, with 663,500 people opting to travel on internal domestic routes.
Uzbekistan Airports confirmed that Tashkent remains the country’s undisputed primary aviation hub. The capital city’s airport single-handedly managed approximately 19,000 flights and facilitated journeys for 2.5 mln passengers.

Looking at the regional breakdown, Samarkand stood out as the busiest hub outside the capital by processing 376,400 individuals. Urgench followed with 222,000 passengers, Namangan recorded 210,100 and Fergana successfully handled 161,200 flyers.
Beyond passenger transit, the logistics and freight sector also enjoyed notable growth. Over 19,700 tonnes of cargo and postal deliveries moved through the country’s airports during the first quarter, representing a 14% volume increase from the previous year.
