Ubisoft has officially pulled back the curtain on Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, a ground-up remake of the beloved fourth instalment built entirely on the Anvil engine.

During a recent broadcast developers confirmed that the revamped pirate adventure will launch on July 9, 2026. The title will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S at a price point of $60, with its Steam store page already live.

Actor Matt Ryan is reprising his iconic role as the voice of Edward Kenway and recently narrated the project’s debut gameplay trailer. While the core historical narrative remains intact, the writers have introduced new cinematic sequences that delve deeper into the protagonist’s internal struggles. In a major shift that is sure to please many long-time players, the studio has completely removed the modern-day Abstergo office sequences from the campaign.

The development team has comprehensively overhauled the game’s visuals alongside its core mechanics. Upgrades have been applied to parkour, underwater exploration and the hand-to-hand combat system. Fights are now significantly more dynamic and feature fresh finishing animations. Furthermore, traversing the Caribbean open world is now completely seamless.

Stealth gameplay has seen vital tweaks to offer players more creative ways to dispatch targets. The notoriously frustrating eavesdropping missions have also been heavily revised; being spotted by an enemy will no longer trigger an instant failure state.

Out on the open ocean naval combat and sailing mechanics boast a renewed sense of realism. Ships now handle with better manoeuvrability and the physical impact of ocean waves on steering has been drastically increased. The developers have also expanded the pirate life by introducing in-game pets and brand-new side quests focusing on the Jackdaw’s crew members.

Despite these extensive additions Ubisoft stressed that they have preserved the original spirit of the game rather than transforming it into a sprawling RPG. Instead they have utilised modern technology to deliver cutting-edge water simulation and dynamic weather systems that breathe new life into the Golden Age of Piracy.
