Uzbekistan Airports has launched an online auction to find a private operator for several parking facilities at Tashkent International Airport. The starting bid for the annual lease agreement has been set at 48.7 bn soums ($4 mln).

The commercial offering covers six specific car parks: P1, P3, P4, P5, P7 and P8. Combined, these zones span an area of more than 40,000 square metres and provide approximately 1,500 individual parking bays. The successful bidder will be awarded a three-year management contract.

Auction details and fees

The official tender is scheduled to take place on May 19 this year. Under the rules of the online auction, all consecutive bids must increase by a minimum increment of 5%.

According to the state enterprise, the final rental payment will be split into two distinct components. The operator will pay a fixed base amount determined by the winning auction bid alongside a variable fee equating to 5% of their total generated revenue.

To ensure complete financial transparency, the managing company is legally obliged to submit regular operational reports and grant airport authorities direct access to their accounting systems.

Modernisation requirements

The incoming tenant will be expected to heavily invest in modernising the airport’s parking infrastructure. The contract stipulates several mandatory upgrades designed to improve the passenger experience.

Key requirements for the future operator include:

  • Introducing digital navigation systems to guide drivers
  • Installing live electronic boards displaying available spaces
  • Setting up dedicated charging stations for electric vehicles
  • Implementing automatic number plate recognition technology
  • Launching a mobile application that allows travellers to pre-book their parking spots
