Uzbekistan national team manager Fabio Cannavaro has unveiled his provisional 40-man squad for a crucial pre-tournament training camp ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

The extensive preliminary roster features a strong contingent of 11 players who possess valuable experience playing in the Russian Premier League or for Russian-based clubs. Among these seasoned names are prominent forwards and midfielders such as Eldor Shomurodov, Abbosbek Fayzullaev and Oston Urunov.

Adding elite English top-flight experience to the selection, Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov has also been called up to join the national side. His inclusion highlights the growing international footprint of Uzbek football talent.

This extended list is strictly provisional as Cannavaro looks to assess all his available options. In accordance with official tournament regulations, the final World Cup squad must ultimately be trimmed down to between 23 and 26 players. Consequently, a significant portion of the current group will be cut following this intensive evaluation period.

The crucial training camp is scheduled to take place in the capital city of Tashkent from May 6 to May 26. This three-week gathering will serve as the final and most vital phase of preparation before the squad heads off to compete on football’s biggest global stage.
