Television presenter Stacey Solomon is skipping this year’s BAFTA TV Awards to enjoy a sponsored holiday to Miami with her children.
Rather than walking the red carpet, the former X Factor contestant is attending a paid brand trip with beauty retailer Space NK. The decision comes after she faced a wave of online abuse following her reaction to losing at the previous awards ceremony.
Solomon was heavily criticised online and branded a «sore loser» by internet trolls after expressing her disappointment on Instagram when her BBC programme Sort Your Life Out failed to secure a win.
The home improvement series was nominated for two awards including the Factual Entertainment category. It ultimately lost to Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour. Solomon also missed out on the Entertainment Performance prize.
Following the defeat, she posted a video from her garden dressed in a sweatshirt and cycling shorts. While she offered her congratulations to winners Rylan Clark and Rob Rinder, she openly admitted she was struggling to accept the loss.
She used the broadcast to defend her production team and stated they deserved the recognition for the effort they put into making the programme.
Solomon is not the only television personality choosing to forgo the industry event this evening. Fellow presenters Rochelle Humes and Olivia Attwood have also opted to skip the awards ceremony to join the brand trip in Florida.
