Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann revealed his 26-man squad for the highly anticipated 2026 World Cup. The announcement was broadcast live on YouTube to thousands of eager supporters, showcasing a calculated blend of seasoned veterans and exciting young prospects set to represent the nation in North America.

Speaking on stage during the live presentation, Nagelsmann detailed his strategic choices for the national team under the banner «Es ist WM, wenn der Kader steht» (It’s the World Cup when the squad is set). The roster was uniquely presented in three distinct categories: goalkeepers, defensive players and offensive players.

Goalkeepers

The most notable inclusion between the sticks is the veteran Manuel Neuer who continues his remarkable international career into another World Cup cycle. He is joined by Oliver Baumann and Alexander Nubel to form a highly experienced goalkeeping trio.

The defensive block

Nagelsmann has opted for a robust defensive unit that seemingly groups traditional centre-backs, full-backs and deeper-lying midfielders together. Real Madrid star Antonio Rudiger and Bayern Munich stalwart Joshua Kimmich headline the group. They are joined by a mix of established domestic stars and emerging talents aiming to solidify the backline.

The complete defensive selection includes: Waldemar Anton, Nathaniel Brown, Pascal Groß, Joshua Kimmich, Felix Nmecha, Aleksandar Pavlovic, David Raum, Antonio Rudiger, Nico Schlotterbeck, Angelo Stiller, Jonathan Tah, Malick Thiaw.

The attacking threat

Germany’s offensive line-up is brimming with creativity, pace and firepower. The nation’s hopes will likely rest heavily on the shoulders of dynamic playmakers Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz. The attacking roster also sees Leon Goretzka categorised in an advanced role and features fresh, youthful inclusions such as Lennart Karl and Nick Woltemade who will be looking to make their mark on the biggest stage.

The forward-thinking players heading to the tournament are: Nadiem Amiri, Maximilian Beier, Leon Goretzka, Kai Havertz, Lennart Karl, Jamie Leweling, Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sane, Deniz Undav, Florian Wirtz, Nick Woltemade.

With the squad now officially confirmed, Germany will begin their final preparations for the massive global tournament.
