Gazprom Gas Deliveries to Uzbekistan Surge by 15%

Russian energy corporation Gazprom delivered 6.5 bn cubic metres of natural gas to Uzbekistan last year. This figure represents a 15% increase in annual supply volume compared to the previous 12 months, according to reports from the TASS news agency.
To put this growth into perspective, export levels stood at 5.6 bn cubic metres in 2024. The fuel is currently transported to the Central Asian republic via the dedicated Central Asia-Centre pipeline system, which transits through neighbouring Kazakhstan.
The boost in Uzbek exports aligns with a broader regional trend for the Russian supplier. Gazprom recently announced significant jumps in its fuel deliveries to other neighbouring nations. Gas supplies routed to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan surged by 22.2% while exports to Georgia saw a massive increase of 40.4%.
Expanding supply agreements
The foundations for this growing energy partnership were laid in the summer of 2023 when Tashkent and Gazprom signed a formal supply agreement. Pumping operations officially commenced in the autumn of the same year.
By late last year, Russian authorities confirmed that the company was actively fulfilling a broader contract designed to provide 7.7 bn cubic metres of gas annually. Furthermore, both parties are reportedly exploring the possibility of increasing these supply volumes in the future.
Despite the physical increase in Russian gas volumes, Uzbekistan’s overall spending on foreign gas saw a slight dip. Data provided by the state statistics agency reveals that Tashkent spent a total of $1.6 bn on imported gas from all sources over the course of last year. This financial figure marks a minor 1.2% decline in expenditure compared to the previous year.
