Netherlands national football team manager Ronald Koeman is preparing to use the upcoming international friendly against Uzbekistan as a final dress rehearsal before the World Cup kicks off.

The Dutch squad will face the Central Asian team on June 8 at 23:45 (GMT+5) at the Icahn Stadium in New York. According to reports from Reuters, Koeman intends to deploy his preferred starting eleven to build cohesion ahead of the major tournament.
Explaining his tactical strategy and the reasoning behind scheduling two warm-up games, Koeman stated:

«We want to use the first match to make as few changes as possible. We have to wait and see if that works. We are going to play the first match largely with our starting team. It is also good for guys who are not 100% fit who can then play in the second match. That is why we are playing two matches.»

The high-profile clash will provide a stern test for an Uzbekistan side currently managed by Italian football legend Fabio Cannavaro. The team heads into the fixture looking to bounce back from a recent 2-0 defeat against Canada earlier in June, where they conceded two goals during a frustrating second half.

Despite the disappointing result against the Canadian side, Cannavaro was quick to praise his players for their general gameplay and tactical execution. However, the World Cup-winning defender stressed that his squad must drastically improve their finishing after failing to capitalise on several clear goalscoring opportunities.
