Over 74,000 Tickets Sold for Uzbekistan vs Colombia World Cup Match

The highly anticipated World Cup group-stage fixture between Uzbekistan and Colombia is on track to become one of the most highly attended matches of the tournament so far, with preliminary data revealing that more than 74,700 tickets have already been sold.
According to figures published by the football-focused Telegram channel Futbolium, current sales for this specific clash have surpassed every other match at the tournament. This includes the high-profile opening game between hosts Mexico and South Africa which drew 73,373 spectators, as well as the heavy-hitting encounter between Brazil and Morocco which recorded an attendance of 73,719.
The grand stage: Estadio Azteca
The match is scheduled to take place on June 18 at the iconic Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. The historic sporting arena boasts a total seating capacity of 81,070, meaning only a fraction of tickets remain available for purchase before the stadium reaches full capacity. For fans tuning in from Central Asia, the game will kick off at 07:00 Tashkent time.
Both nations enter the group-stage encounter following a busy period of international preparation.
Since the beginning of the year, Uzbekistan have played five friendly matches, securing two victories, suffering two defeats and grinding out one draw. Colombia have enjoyed a slightly more positive run of form over the same period, recording three wins and two losses.
Despite the massive surge in fan interest, the fixture represents a classic David-and-Goliath setup on paper. As of June 11, the latest FIFA global standings place Colombia as firm favourites in 13th position, while Uzbekistan sit significantly further down the pecking order in 50th place.
