Uzbek President Congratulates Armenian PM Following Parliamentary Election Victory

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan following the victory of the Civil Contract party in the country’s parliamentary elections.
In a congratulatory letter, Mirziyoyev noted that the election results reflect the confidence of the Armenian people in the government’s domestic and foreign policies, including initiatives aimed at ensuring peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus. The Uzbek leader also expressed his hope for the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Tashkent and Yerevan.
Data from all polling stations confirmed that the Civil Contract bloc secured the highest number of votes. The Strong Armenia political alliance finished in second place, followed by the opposition Armenia coalition in third. Total voter turnout exceeded 1.47 mln citizens. Pashinyan marked the election outcome by playing the song We Are the Champions by the British band Queen.
However the results face a legal challenge from the opposition. The Strong Armenia bloc has announced its intention to contest the election figures. A party representative stated that the alliance will appeal to the Constitutional Court if the Central Electoral Commission does not address its concerns.
