Ukrainian Drones Strike Oil Refinery 2,000 Km Inside Russia, Zelenskyy Says

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said Ukrainian long-range drones successfully struck an oil refinery in Russia’s Tyumen region, more than 2,000 kilometres from the Ukrainian border.
In his nightly address, Zelenskyy praised the operation as evidence of Ukraine’s growing long-range strike capabilities, saying the attack targeted infrastructure supporting Russia’s war effort. The refinery is located deep inside Siberia and represents one of the furthest targets reportedly reached by Ukrainian drones since the start of the conflict.
Russian authorities acknowledged a fire at an industrial facility in the Tyumen region but did not immediately confirm the cause. Regional officials said emergency services were dispatched to contain the blaze and that there were no immediate reports of casualties.
The strike comes amid an intensifying drone campaign by both sides, with Ukraine increasingly targeting Russian energy and military facilities far from the front lines. Kyiv argues that attacks on energy infrastructure are aimed at reducing Russia’s ability to finance and sustain military operations.
The latest incident highlights the expanding range of Ukrainian drone technology and underscores the growing importance of long-range unmanned systems in the more than four-year-old war.
