Uzbekistan will face Portugal on June 23 in their second Group K match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The game will take place at NRG Stadium in Houston.

Fabio Cannavaro’s side began their first-ever World Cup campaign with a 3-1 defeat to Colombia. Despite the loss, Abbosbek Fayzullayev made history by scoring Uzbekistan’s first goal at a World Cup.

Portugal also dropped points in their opening match, drawing 1-1 with DR Congo. Roberto Martinez’s team will be looking to recover against Uzbekistan and strengthen their position in the group.

Portugal are widely seen as favourites, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Vitinha among their key players. Uzbekistan are expected to rely on defender Abdukodir Khusanov, captain Eldor Shomurodov and young attacking talent Fayzullayev.

After the opening round, Colombia lead Group K with three points, while Portugal and DR Congo have one point each. Uzbekistan remain without a point, making the Portugal match a crucial test in their bid to stay in contention for the knockout stage.
