Uzbekistan national team defender Abdukodir Khusanov has reflected on his team’s match against Colombia and shared his expectations for the upcoming clash with Portugal, according to Championat.Asia.

The Uzbek international said the team put in a tremendous effort and fought until the final minutes in an attempt to change the course of the game.

“We worked very hard against Colombia. We scored our first goal and leveled the score, then tried to find a second goal. We felt that we could do it and kept pushing forward. Unfortunately, we were unable to convert our chances,” Khusanov said.

The defender also thanked the fans for their support, stressing that it served as a major source of motivation for the team throughout the match.

Speaking about the next opponent, Khusanov acknowledged that the game against Portugal would be a difficult challenge for Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan are scheduled to face Portugal on the evening of Tuesday, June 23. Earlier, head coach Fabio Cannavaro said his team would have to contend not only with Cristiano Ronaldo, but with the entire Portuguese squad.
