President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has taken part in a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of an IT Park in New Namangan, a new urban district in the Davlatabad region of Namangan.

Speaking at the event, the president said the development of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, along with the creation of high-income jobs, remains one of the key priorities of Uzbekistan’s reform agenda.

The IT Park is part of a broader $117 mln project being implemented with Chinese partners to build technology hubs in six regions of the country, including Namangan, Samarkand, Chirchik, Nurafshan, Urgench and Navoi. The New Namangan facility will be the first to be launched under the initiative.

The project will occupy 1.7 hectares and feature a modern 17-storey building with a total area of nearly 18,000 square metres. The complex will house educational and export centers, co-working and office spaces, a startup accelerator and support services for foreign technology companies.

Officials expect the IT Park to host dozens of firms and startup studios within a single digital ecosystem. Around 2,000 high-paying jobs are expected to be created for young people in the region.

According to government estimates, the project will help increase the annual volume of IT services in Namangan to 500 bn soums and boost IT exports to $30 mln. The ceremony also marked the launch of several completed investment projects and the start of construction on new industrial facilities in the region.
