The first live image of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 has surfaced online ahead of its official July 22 Unpacked event in London.

Weibo user Engage Machine Wang Tengxiao shared the photograph, noting the smartphone is already on display in Samsung’s South Korean retail stores. The image reveals a redesigned structure featuring a new two-section black hinge. Preliminary information indicates Samsung reworked the folding mechanism to improve durability and minimise the internal display crease while reinforcing the screen’s protective layers.

Tipster Debayan Roy provided additional hardware details. The device reportedly features a 5.4-inch OLED cover display alongside a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X internal screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio. Both panels support a 120Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, the smartphone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. The camera system includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens. Both the internal and external front-facing cameras house 10-megapixel sensors.

A 4,800 mAh battery powers the device, supporting 45W wired and 25W wireless charging. It will launch with the Android 17-based One UI 9 operating system.

The new foldable boasts an incredibly slim profile, measuring between 4.5 mm and 4.9 mm unfolded and 9.7 mm to 9.8 mm closed. It weighs approximately 200 grams. Samsung is already accepting pre-orders for the highly anticipated device.
