Uzbekistan investment hits $28.4bn in first half of 2026

The manufacturing sector was the key growth driver

Investment in Uzbekistan’s economy rose by 17.5% year on year to $28.4 billion in the first six months of 2026, according to official data. The manufacturing sector attracted by far the largest share of the total.

According to Uzbekistan’s National Statistics Committee, fixed-capital investment from all financing sources totalled 338.9 trillion soums ($28.4 billion) between January and June, which included spending on economic development and the social sector.

Manufacturing accounted for 100.5 trillion soums ($8.4 billion), followed by agriculture, forestry, and fishing ($2.76 billion) and construction ($2.72 billion). Energy-related investment totalled around $2.51 billion, while housing attracted approximately $2.29 billion.

Mining received approximately $1.83 billion, while transport and storage attracted 16.3 trillion soums ($1.37 billion). At the lower end, investment in finance and insurance totalled 2.4 trillion soums ($201 million), while arts, entertainment and recreation received 2 trillion soums ($168 million). 

Manufacturing drives Uzbekistan’s investment growth

The most recent figures build on a strong start to the year. Fixed-capital investment totalled 156.3 trillion soums in the first quarter, up 29.6% from the previous year, according to the Statistics Committee.

Uzbekistan recorded 591.1 trillion soums in fixed-capital investment in 2025, a 10.5% increase over the previous year. As part of its broader economic development strategy, the government has sought to attract more foreign capital to manufacturing, infrastructure, and other major projects.
