Love and Deepspace developers warn players over toxic cocktail recipes
The developers of the popular role-playing dating simulator Love and Deepspace have issued an urgent safety warning to their player base after officially publishing cocktail recipes that included highly poisonous plants.
On September 28, the official social media account for the game shared a list of five «Shimmering Blend» drink recipes. The promotional post was designed to celebrate an in-game event, with each beverage themed around the title’s romanceable characters.
Each protagonist in the sci-fi game is associated with a specific symbolic flower, which the marketing team seemingly incorporated into the recipes as aesthetic garnishes without researching their toxicity.
Released in 2024, Love and Deepspace is a mobile 3D dating simulator that has cultivated a massive global audience. The game allows players to interact with a roster of male protagonists through immersive storylines and virtual companionship.
Because the community frequently recreates in-game items, outfits and meals for social media content, the risk of a player blindly following the official recipe list was a genuine concern.
Toxic Ingredients Spark Backlash
Fans quickly realised that recreating the visually appealing drinks in real life could have fatal consequences. One recipe called for a mixture of pomegranate juice and cinnamon topped with a datura garnish. Datura is a notoriously toxic plant that can cause severe hallucinations, respiratory failure and death if ingested.
Another concoction featured sweet peach juice mixed with gelatin sheets and garnished with a flame lily, which is similarly poisonous to humans.
Safety Notice: All drinks shown are fictional and for in-game purposes only. Do not attempt to recreate or consume them in reality.

Followers immediately flooded the comments section, urging the developers to delete the post before anyone attempted to mix the drinks at home. Players pointed out that presenting toxic flora alongside edible ingredients in a standard recipe format is highly dangerous, regardless of the fictional context or artistic vision.
Following the severe community backlash, developer Infold Games posted a follow-up statement on September 30. The studio clarified that the visual guides were purely thematic and never meant for real-world consumption.
«All drinks shown are fictional and for in-game purposes only,» the official Love and Deepspace account wrote. «Do not attempt to recreate or consume them in reality.»
