Apple is restricting iPhone Duo purchases to two devices per customer in the United States, following strong demand for its first foldable smartphone that pushed delivery estimates into 2027.

Customers attempting to order more than two units through Apple’s website or the Apple Store app now receive a warning asking them to reduce the quantity before completing their purchase, according to MacRumors.

«A maximum of 2 iPhone Duo can be purchased per customer,» the notice states.

It remains unclear whether the restriction was introduced after pre-orders opened on October 16 or had been in place from the beginning.

Some Reddit users reported successfully purchasing four devices, while others said Apple had already limited their orders to two. MacRumors could not independently establish when the restriction took effect.

Apple has not publicly explained the reason for the US limit. However, the restriction comes amid concerns about limited availability and customers purchasing multiple devices for resale.

Similar two-device limits were already listed in China, Singapore and Hong Kong. Unlike those markets, Apple’s US website does not display the restriction until shoppers attempt to add more than two units to their basket.

iPhone Duo delivery dates begin moving forward

The purchase limit follows a difficult pre-order launch for Apple’s first foldable iPhone.

Initial launch-day inventory sold out within minutes on October 16, with estimated delivery dates slipping into November, December and eventually January 2027.

However, some customers who ordered early are now receiving improved delivery estimates.

According to a separate report, Apple has started bringing forward delivery dates for selected pre-orders in the United States and Japan.

YouTuber Matt Gonzalez, for example, initially received a December delivery estimate for his 512GB Star White iPhone Duo. His updated delivery window is now November 20–30.

Other customers have reported similar changes, with some orders arriving several weeks earlier than originally expected.

The iPhone Duo officially goes on sale on October 23, starting at $1,999 for the 256GB version and reaching $3,199 for the 2TB configuration.

The smartphone features a 7.6-inch folding display, a 5.4-inch external screen and Apple’s A20 Pro processor.

Despite the revised delivery estimates, availability remains limited. Apple Store employees have reportedly been advised to discourage customers without pre-orders from visiting stores on launch day because there may be little or no stock available for walk-in purchases.
