OnePlus has introduced its first open-ear wireless earbuds, the Buds Clip, featuring a design that allows either earbud to be worn on either ear without affecting stereo sound.

Unlike conventional wireless earbuds, the new model automatically identifies which ear it is attached to and adjusts the left and right audio channels accordingly.

The Buds Clip use a flexible C-shaped frame made from a nickel-titanium alloy that adapts to different ear shapes. Each earbud weighs 5.2 grams and has received TÜV Rheinland certification for comfortable wear.

The open-ear design sits outside the ear canal, allowing users to hear surrounding sounds while listening to music or taking calls.

OnePlus has listed the earbuds on its global website in three colours: Pearl White, Pebble Grey and Twilight Rose. However, the company has not announced pricing, a release date or the markets where the product will initially be sold.

What features do OnePlus Buds Clip offer?

The earbuds feature a dual-driver audio system developed with Danish audio company Dynaudio, combining an 11mm woofer with a 9mm tweeter.

They support LHDC 5.0 high-resolution audio and include a technology called Dipole Sound-Field, designed to reduce the amount of sound escaping into the surrounding environment.

For voice calls, OnePlus has equipped the Buds Clip with six microphones and a dedicated 6nm AI audio processor. The system uses bone-conducted vibrations and noise filtering to distinguish the wearer’s voice from background sounds.

Battery life reaches up to 9.5 hours on a single charge when using the AAC codec, extending to 40 hours with the charging case. With LHDC enabled, those figures fall to eight and 36 hours respectively.

Other specifications include Bluetooth 6.1, an IP55 dust and water resistance rating, simultaneous connection to two devices and support for Google Fast Pair and Windows Swift Pair.
