The Motorola Signature 27 smartphone took second place in DXOMARK‘s global camera rankings, scoring 173 points and outperforming several flagship rivals, including Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro, Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra and Oppo’s Find X9 Ultra.

Motorola Signature 27, unveiled on 5 November, finished just two points behind the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra, which remains the highest-rated camera phone with 175 points.

The iPhone 18 Pro followed in third place with 172 points, while the Oppo Find X9 Ultra scored 170. The Signature 27 also received DXOMARK’s Gold Label for camera quality, making it the highest-ranked smartphone released in 2026.

DXOMARK awarded the Signature 27 identical scores of 173 for photography and video recording. Testers praised its natural skin tones, sharp portraits and ability to keep several people in focus in group photos.

The smartphone also performed well in low-light conditions, producing detailed images with accurate exposure and relatively little noise. Its video cameras maintained stable colours and focus, even as the lighting changed.

However, DXOMARK found some weaknesses. Photos taken at longer zoom distances lacked detail compared with competing phones, while moving subjects sometimes appeared blurred in very dark environments.

What can Motorola Signature 27 do?

The Signature 27 features a triple rear-camera system led by a 50MP Sony Lytia 910 sensor. It also includes a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and a 50MP ultrawide camera.

Motorola introduced a dedicated Event Vision Sensor (EVS), designed to detect movement and help capture sharper images of fast-moving subjects.

The phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor and comes with up to 16GB of RAM. Its 6.78-inch AMOLED display supports a 120Hz refresh rate.

A 7,000 mAh battery provides 90 W wired and 50 W wireless charging. Motorola also promises seven major Android updates, with Android 17 installed at launch.
