Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan Submit Joint Bid to Host FIFA U-20 World Cup 2027

Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have officially submitted a joint bid to host the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup, UFA reports. FIFA has begun reviewing potential host candidates for the tournament, and the bid reflects growing ambitions among Turkic states to play a larger role on the international football stage.
The national football associations of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan noted the progress both countries have made in recent years, including major reforms in the sport, infrastructure improvements and a stronger international presence. The joint application expresses confidence in their ability to host the tournament at the highest standard.
Both nations are now fully prepared to welcome such a prestigious competition. In Uzbekistan, stadiums have been modernised to meet international requirements, and the country has gained valuable experience from organising youth and junior tournaments. These include the AFC U-20 and U-23 Championships and, notably, the FIFA Futsal World Cup – the first ever held in Central Asia. That event was hailed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino as the best in the competition’s history.
Uzbekistan is once again ready to capture the hearts of fans around the world with its renowned hospitality, strong organisational capabilities and deep-rooted passion for football. The country’s supporters are known for their enthusiasm and unwavering love for the game, qualities that could help bring a vibrant atmosphere to the 2027 U-20 World Cup if the joint bid is successful.
